Poster Girl

While I was in Albuquerque and SantaFe last weekend, look who I ran into!  Un Pocito was this year's poster for the Dia De Los Muertos Celebration at the plaza in Old Town.

I was also fortunate enough to FINALLY meet Manuel Salas in person after almost 2 years of phone calls and emails.  Aside from being wildly talented he is also a very gracious and charming man.....really a nice guy!  Sooo.....more of his skeletons to come.

Lizard Stitching

While finishing the painting on a new dimensional, I've been stitching this years Tony Minieri class project.  Lizard #1 is finished and several other lizards are filled in and waiting for background before I can add the couched outlining and finishing touches.

Changing the direction of the stitch midstream in order to "bend" with the shape seems to be Tony's lesson on this piece.  This is a technique I've never tried before and it's been a challenge - but with a little bit of creative compensating....IT WORKS.

What can I say - Tony is a genius!!!

Back From The Framer

Finally got Lupe back from the framer today.  We actually had to double frame this in order to accomodate the dimensional braid, and even though the frame is a little bit outrageous I think it suits the piece.

The stitch guide for this canvas, MS-2 is available from Tony Minieri.
